Saturday, January 24, 1998 The next day I rented a snowboard and boots and wearing my Aerostitch I went snowboarding. Subaru was offering free 90 minute lessons which I took advantage of. It had been over a year since my last excursion and the refresher was useful. I quickly learned that while the knee and elbow armor in the suit were very useful, the back protector limited movement a lot, particularly when the belt was fastened. This made it difficult to strap my boots in. At the end of the day of snowboarding I was beginning to wonder exactly why I wanted to hurt every muscle in my body. Those that didn't ache from the 1500+ mile motorcycle trip ached from snowboarding. Unfortunately the duplex where we were staying did not have a hot tub. Fortunately there was a bar adjacent to the slopes. We went there for some R&R after a day on the slopes. Caroline (the other snowboarder in the group) was feeling chilled so I loaned her one of my reusable heat packs. She took to it very nicely. It was also Caroline's Birthday; the bar gives one free shot for your birthday and she did a fine job of throwing it back. |
